ITALIAN DANCE AWARD

In 2022, Danielle Marie Fusco was honored with the Italian Dance Award for Best Dancer at the Fini Dance Festival and through prestigious recognition in Calabria, Italy. This distinguished award celebrates dancers who demonstrate exceptional artistry, technical mastery, and deep connection to Italian cultural traditions—qualities Danielle embodies through her dynamic performances and dedication to preserving Southern Italian folk dance along with extensive work in circus arts, commercial theatre (Luigi Jazz), Graham technique and innovative theatre.

Following this recognition, Danielle returned to Italy to collaborate on cross-cultural exchanges, host events, and foster growth for Italian and Italian American communities. Through these efforts, she continues to build bridges between cultures, sharing the richness of Italian heritage while inspiring a new generation of dancers and artists.

Her commitment to excellence, education, and cultural preservation makes her not only a celebrated performer but also a passionate ambassador of Italian dance worldwide.

Legislative Proclomation

The Westchester County Board of Legislators officially proclaimed March 24, 2026 as “Danielle Marie Fusco Day” in recognition of Danielle’s tireless work preserving and sharing the rich traditions of Italian folk dance and contemporary diasporic work.

 

Danielle was honored during the Seventh Annual Festa della Donna Women’s History Month Celebration at the Triad Theater for her extraordinary contributions in bringing Italian American culture to life through live dance, music, historical scholarship, and multimedia storytelling. Her performances, blending vibrant movement with historical context, educate and inspire audiences while keeping centuries-old traditions alive and relevant.

 

This formal proclamation acknowledges Danielle’s role in cultural preservation, artistic excellence, and community engagement, highlighting the enduring importance of folk dance as a living expression of identity and heritage.

 

Danielle dedicates this honor to her family, ancestors, mentors, and students, as well as to the women whose stories and dances echo through her work. She also extends heartfelt thanks to Vanessa Racci and the entire creative team whose passion and dedication make these cultural celebrations possible.

 

The proclamation, presented by Chairman Vedat Gashi and Legislator David Tubiolo, celebrates Danielle’s artistry as an essential part of Westchester County’s cultural landscape.

Featured Performer & Lecturer Federal Arts in Education Grant

Danielle Marie Fusco was selected as a featured performer and lecturer through a federally supported arts initiative with the Patchogue Arts Council, presented at the renowned Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts in collaboration with Eastern Suffolk BOCES.

As a PEACE Grant participant, Fusco contributed to a transformative program designed to integrate the arts into education through performance-based learning, cultural exploration, and social-emotional development. 

Fusco was awarded honors through the program, highlighting her groundbreaking contributions to arts education and her influence in shaping inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments. Her work continues to inspire both students and educators, reinforcing the vital role of the arts in personal and collective transformation.

ALBA MAZZA AWARD FOR EDUCATION AND THE ARTS

Danielle Marie Fusco is the proud recipient of the Alma Mazza Award for Education in the Arts, presented at the Festival of Song USA on March 22, 2026. This distinguished honor, presented by Maria Lindh and nominated by Dominic Frasca, recognizes Danielle’s unwavering dedication to education and the arts, and celebrates the enduring legacy of Silvana Romania.

Following a series of interviews and appearances at events held at Leonard’s Palazzo, Danielle was recognized for years of excellence in global performance, cross-cultural exchange, and innovative curriculum development. Her dynamic work as both a performer and educator has made a lasting impact in the world of dance, bridging tradition and contemporary expression while inspiring students and audiences alike.

From the stage to the classroom, Danielle’s contributions to dance education and performance continue to resonate across communities, honoring heritage while shaping the future of the arts.

Danielle Marie Fusco was honored as the #1 Critics’ Pick by Time Out New York for her electrifying performance at the iconic Night of a Thousand Stevies—New York City’s legendary  tribute to Stevie Nicks.

Her image was not only featured as a standout moment in the event’s legacy but was also included in a prestigious Rizzoli coffee table book, commemorating the spectacle and cultural impact of the evening. That same year, Fusco was selected as the official cover girl for the event—an honor reserved for performers who embody its spirit, mystique, and artistry.

Created by nightlife visionaries Johnny Dynell and Chi Chi Valenti, Night of a Thousand Stevies has remained a cornerstone of New York City performance culture for over 33 years, drawing artists and audiences from around the world. Fusco’s recognition places her among the most memorable and celebrated performers in the event’s storied history.
